What should we do?

It is important to us, the folks at Mouse Kingdom that every decision we make is made with a conscience.

We make Liqueurs.

Its unlikely they'll be misused, as you're all pretty discerning folks. They're not priced to be misused, and we aim to give the best value we can for the liquid.

This is what we do to make our liqueurs have a conscience for the planet.

Drop us a comment to help!

🌍

Firstly and perhaps most importantly - our Central Manchester production facilities give UK consumers an option to reduce carbon miles on their offering. It will always be better to use a locally made product and avoid the emissions from shipping heavy glass and liquid across the globe.

🌍

Our sugar is UK grown.

🌎

Our alcohol is made from UK grown wheat.

🌏

We source our coffee via Heart and Graft, a Manchester roastery who deliver by bike.

🌍

Our fruit and juice comes from the EU where possible.

🌎

Our corks are entirely renewable wood and from Portugal. Throw them in the compost.

🌍

We have no pokey plastic inserts which are immediately thrown away. Or caps made of plastic attached to the cork...

🌍

Our bottles are French not Chinese.

🌎

Our labels are specifically chosen to be easily removable and recyclable paper. Just add a bit of water and they rub right off.

🌍

Every piece of packaging material we have used for sample and direct to consumer orders since we began has been sourced from incoming deliveries or scrounged from waste.

🌍

100% of our production food waste is all composted onsite or locally in Manchester.

🌏

We wild forage our ingredients for our limited releases.

🌎

Our energy is supplied by Octopus – a 100% renewable energy supplier

Where we believe we can do better

🌏

We use a lot of water when distilling for cooling, as well as cutting our liquid down to strength with filtered Manchester rainwater.

🌏

Some of our fruit is not sourced locally – we cannot grow passionfruits in Manchester.

🌎

Our sample bottles come from the far east through a distributor – this time next year we hope they’ll be EU made recyclable aluminium.

There are UK bottle producers – this time next year we would love to be sourcing locally. We cannot currently due to our size and not having the same economies of scale as bigger suppliers.

🌍

We don’t currently offset our courier emissions.

🌏

Our wholesale packaging uses plastic wrap (pallets and bulk orders).

🌎

Our focus is on ethical artwork – our merch is made from paper – we aim to source this from recycled sources but it is currently not.
